About Providence OPC

Providence is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), a denomination founded in 1936 by congregations separating from the Presbyterian Church, USA. We are committed to sound biblical Christianity, are rooted in the worship and doctrine of the Reformation, and eagerly pursue Jesus's command to make disciples of all nations.

Providence began as a mission of the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic in 2000 and was officially organized as a congregation in January 2007.

We invite you to visit us and to learn more about our worship, beliefs, and life together.

Worship with Us!

Due to COVID-19 concerns, we are worshiping at a new location. Click here for more information.

On the Lord's Day we gather for worship at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. We meet at the Jefferson Area Board of Aging (JABA) building at 674 Hillsdale Drive, Charlottesville (see map and directions).

A staffed nursery and cry room are available during both morning and evening worship services.

Catechism and Sunday schools are held at 11:30 AM, except for the third Sunday of each month, when we enjoy lunch together immediately following morning worship.

Whether you are new to the area, a long-time Charlottesville resident, or just passing through, we welcome you to join us in worship!

One of the blessings of a smaller congregation is to have opportunities to get to know all of the other members—adults as well as children. We enjoy a time of coffee and fellowship after morning worship, and share a table filled with all kinds of treats following evening worship.

The third Sunday of each month we enjoy a potluck lunch following morning worship. Visitors are especially welcome, as there is always plenty of food for all.

See the Fellowship page for more information on women’s and men’s studies and our Wednesday evening prayer meeting.
